LAIRESSE, Gérard de: Painter and engraver, no publisher. Born 1641 in Liège, in 1660 in Berlin, 1665 in Amsterdam, 1684 in The Hague, 1707 author of "Groot schilder boek". He died 1711 in Amsterdam, almost pennyless. When he was 50 years he became blind and gets in financial problems.

LAMSVELD(T), Jan (van): Worked in Amsterdam about 1682-1698. "Over 't meisjens weeshuis"; "vis à vis de la maison des filles orfelines" (1682-1687). (No prints known).

LAMSVELD(T), Jan van: Baptized in Amsterdam 1674, died there 1743. According to Waller, son of Jan van Lamsveld (see above) and brother of Willem. He had a son, Pieter. Addresses: "Elandsgracht" (1698); "Jan-Roopoorts-Toorensteeg" (1701-1703). (No prints known).

LAMSWEERDE, Steven van: Utrecht 1630-686. Pupil of Chrispijn v.d. Passe II. Worked in Amsterdam 1640-1644.

LANGENES, Barent: Worked in Middelburg 1597-1605. "op den hoeck vande Gistrate inde vier winden" (1631-1637). In The Hague "op de Groote Sale van 't Binnenhoff" (1631)

LANGERAK,Johan Arnold: Leyden about 1723.

LANGLOIS, François: Paris 1588-1647. Dit CHARTRES or CIARTRES. Paris 1588-1647. Rue St. Jacques du coin de la rue des Noyers en face de la chapelle St. Yves. His shop was named: "Aux Colonnes d'Hercule, proche le Lyon d'Argent", with the Latin device: "Nec plus Ultra" (1640). When François died in 1647 his widow, Madeleine de Colemont, continued the firm until 1655. Then she married Pierre Mariette II, who had his printhouse in the same street. (see MARIETTE). Langlois published work of Stefano della Bella under the name Chartres.
All prints with the address of Ciartres and RH Inventor are copies in reverse!!

LAURENS, Jacobus: Rome about 1598-605.

LAUWERS, Nicolaus: Antwerp 1600-1652. Was in the Guild of Antwerp in 1619. He was one of the most competent engravers in the Rubens-school.

LAUWICK, LAVWYCKE, LAWWIJCK, I or J.: Leyden about 1642.

LEERS, Arnout: Worked in Rotterdam 1643-1673 "By 't Oudehooft" (1659) His widow had the firm until 1679. "Tot Rotterdam 1672". (On a proclamation in Rijksmuseum A'dam)

LEERS,(de jonge) Arnout: Son of Arnout from Rotterdam. Worked in The Hague 1669-1696 and in Rotterdam 1703-1717.

LEERS, Reinier: According to Waller The Hague 1680-1705. But he published Isaac de Larey, Histoire d'Angleterre (4 vols.) with the address "A Rotterdam chez Reinier Leers".

LESCAILLE, Jacob: Worked in Amsterdam 1644-1679. "oude Heregracht" (1645) "op den Middeldam naast de Vismarkt (op de hoek van de Vischpoort) in 't Schultboek". (1645-1679). The heirs of Jacob Lescaille had the firm on the same address until 1710.

LESCAILLE and RANK, Dirk: Worked in Amsterdam 1715-1721. "op de Beurs-sluis".

LESPINE, de: Address: "de Lespine exc. Cum privilegio Ordin: Hollandiae et West-Frisiae".

LETH, Hendrik de: Baptized in Amsterdam 1703, died there 1766. Son of Andries de Leth (1662-1731) who took over the firm of the widow of Nicolaus Visscher. "Andries de Leth, op de Beurs-sluys in de Visser" 1721-1728). Later "Andries en Hendrik de Leth, Kunsthandelaars op de Beurssluis in de Visser" (1728-1731). Hendrik's address was: "op de Beurssluys in de Visser; à l'enseigne du Pêcheur". (1731-1766).

LIANSEN:

LIEFRINCK, CORNELIS (also called Hans) Active in Leiden about 1561 as carthographer and art dealer. According to Waller Lieferinck worked in Leyden 1561-1599 where he was burried on January 25, 1599 in the Hooglandsche Kerk. He was a son of Cornelis Lieferinck and Margriet Symonsdr. An other son, Cornelis Johannesz. (born in 1574) was painter, etcher and "Baljuw" in Rijnsburg and Boskoop in 1635.

LIEF(FE)RINCK, Hans I: Born 1518 in Augsburg? Worked 1538-1573 in Antwerp, died there in 1573. Addresses: "Lombarde veste in den witten Haeswint"; "Imprime en Anuers sur la rue de Lombaers au Lieurter Blansch".

LODEWYCKS, Lodewijck: Worked in Amsterdam about 1654-1658. "Boekbinder en Printvercoper inde Heerestraat in 't Canstboeck". (1654‑'58). "Boeck, Print en Caert vercoper, wonende op de Singel, bij de Jan roonpoorts toren, op de booch van de sluys in 't Cunst boeck" (1655).

LONDERSEEL, Assuerus: According to Hollstein, born in Antwerp 1572, died in Rotterdam 1635. Pupil of Nic. de Bruyn.
  According to Wurzbach: There was a Assuerus Londerseel, born in Amsterdam in 1548, pupil of Pieter v.d. Borcht. And a Assuerus Jansz. Londerseel, born in Antwerp in 1572. He married, 27 years old in 1599 in Amsterdam.
  According to Waller: Assuerus Londerseel was born in Antwerp, died in 1649. Worked in Amsterdam 1594-1599 and in Rotterdam 1599-1633.

LONDERSEEL, Johannes van: Brother of Assuerus, born in Antwerp 1578 died in Rotterdam 1625. Worked in Rotterdam and Delft 1610-1624. Pupil of his brother-in-law Nic. de Bruyn. Assistant of N. de Clerck.

LONS, Dirk Eversen: According to Hollstein: Born 1590, worked ca. 1615‑1631 in Amsterdam.
  According to Wurzbach: Worked in Amsterdam about 1615, where he married on Jun 9, 1621.
 According to Waller: Born about 1599 worked in Amsterdam 1615-1666 "gedruckt tot Amsterdam bij Dirck eewersen Lons".

LOOTS, Ioannes: Amsterdam 1666-1724. "Op de Zeedijk" (1691); "Gesneeden, gedruckt en uytgegeven door Ioannis Loots, in de Nieuwebrugsteeg in de Jonge Lootsman" (1698-1724). Widow until 1736, same address.

LOOTSMAN, Anthoni Jacobsz.: Amsterdam 1631-1650. Important ptinter of children's prints. "Bloemstraat" (1631); "op de Achter Burgwal" (1633); "in de Wolve-straet in de Hystorij van Josephus" (1641-1642); "op 't Water in de Lootsman" (1648-1650). His widow continued the firm on the last address until 1689. Thereafter came Jacobus Anthonisz. Lootsman (1653-1679) and Casparus Lootsman (1665-1711).
