KAERIUS, Petrus or  KEERE, Peter van der: Born in Ghent 1571. Worked in London 1583-1593 and in Amsterdam "opt Rockin" (1593-1600). "in de Calverstraete inden onsekere Tyt" "in platea Vitulina, in intersignio incerti temporis" "en la rue de Calverstraete a l' enseigne du temps incertein". "in The Calverstreete in the uncerteine time" (1610-1622). "aen de Beurse" (1636). His sister Colette married Jodocus Hondius I. His other sister Margareta married Pieter Goos the diamondcutter. Propable Kaerius sold in 1617 his publishers' rights to Janssonius. He died in Ghent after 1645.

KEULEN, Johannes I van: Deventer 1654 - Amsterdam 1715.
Founder of the famous publishing-firm of seamaps. Johan came to Amsterdam about 1656 and lived in the "Warmoesstraat". He became member of the Guild of Booksellers in 1678. With his wife and son he moved to the "Nieuwe Brugsteeg" in 1681.

KEULEN, Gerard van: Amsterdam 1678-1727. Son of Johannes I. He took over the firm in 1704. He was also in the Guild of Booksellers. Gerard was not only a talented engraver, but also very competent in mathematics and the knowledge of navigation. He died at the age of 49 and his widow Ludwina Konst ruled the firm until their son Johannes II was old enough to take over the business. Address:"In de Gekroonde Lootsman, aan Oost Zijde Van De Nieuwen Brug", "op den hoek van de nieuwebrugh-steeg".

KEULEN, Johannes II van: Amsterdam born (?) died in 1755. Son of Gerard. Same address as Gerard van Keulen. He had 2 sons, Gerard and Cornelis. They had dubble names. Gerard received the name of the partner in the firm: GERARD HULST VAN KEULEN (died in 1801). Cornelis received the name of his mother: CORNELIS BUYS VAN KEULEN (died in 1778).

The son of Gerard, named GERARD HULST VAN KEULEN VAN DE VELDE sold the firm in 1810 to J. Staats Boonen. The name of the firm remained: "Boek-en zeekaartwinkel van wijlen de Wed. G. Hulst van Keulen" on the same address.

KITTENSTEYN, Cornelis van: Born in Delft October 24, 1598, died in Haarlem october 8, 1652. He married Lysbeth Outger in Haarlem in 1624. He was engraver, publisher, notary and wholesale-dealer in salt, member of the committee of St. Barbara hospital in Haarlem and in 1631 member of the Guild. Pupil of Jan van de Velde.
