PASSE, Crispijn de Oude: Arnemuiden 1565-Utrecht 1637. Engraver  and publisher. Published first states of his his own work and that of his children, Chrispijn II, Simon, Willem and Magdalena. He worked in Antwerp 1584-'85, Aix-la-Chapelle 1589-'90, Cologne 1594-1610 and Utrecht 1612-'37. His address also on work of Hans Bol.

PASSE, Chrispijn van de II: Cologne 1594-Amsterdam 1670. Son of Chrispijn I. He worked in Paris, Delft and Utrecht. Address: "Westermarkt in de Pallas" (1642). "op 't hoeckje van de Lijnbaen-steegh" (1653). "Nieuwe Kerkstraat" "Nieuwe Lelystraat (1663). "Angeliersgraft" (1668). All the other members of the Van de Passe-family were engravers, not publishers.

PEETERS, Johannes: According to Wurzbach: Painter of marines, baptized in 1624, died after 1677. Brother and pupil of Bonaventura and Gilles Peeters. In 1658 he founded an art-shop in Antwerp. In 1659 he was six month in Holland. He married in 1654 Catharina Buseliers and had 1 son, Jan Frans, and 3 daughters. After his death was the address: "Erven van J. Peeters te Antwerpen".

PICART, Bernard: Surname Le Romain. Born in Paris 1673, died in Amsterdam 1733. Worked in Paris, Rome, Brussels, Antwerp. The Hague and Amsterdam.  Married in 1712 Anna VINCENT. Adresses: "a Paris rue St. Jaques au Buste de Monseigneur"; (1702-'06) "Amsterdam in de Nes" (1712); "In de ster (a l'Etoile) op de Cingel over de Appelmarct, op de hoek van de Beulingstraaet" (1713-1733). PITTEN, Jan: Amsterdam

PLANTIN, Christophel: St. Avertin 1514-1589. Came in 1582 to Leyden. He bought the houses "Assendelft" in the "Breestraat, hoek Vrouwensteeg" and the "Drie Coningen" in the "Maarsmansteeg".

When Plantin sold a great number of books to Loys Elsevier for /1270,= Loys could not pay. So he gave his houses Rapenburg 56 and Kloksteeg 4 as security to Plantin. Since Elsevier never payed off, Plantin was owner of both houses. In 1585 Plantin returned to Antwerp and his son-in-law, Franciscus Raphelingius (van RAPHELINGENn) who was not catholic, but Calvinist, took over the firm. After Plantin's death he inherited the whole firm and all the houses. (See also: Van der AA, BASSON, Raphelingen and TANGENA)

POOLSUM, Jurriaen van: Worked in Utrecht about 1670-1691. "bij de Martens-Brug" (1670); "op de Plaats recht over 't Stadhuys" (1675-1688). Widow until 1708, same address. Son Jacobus until 1716.

PORCELLIS, Jan: Ghent 1585-1632 Zoeterwoude. He was not a publisher but it is funny to know that in 1626 he bought a house at the "Pieterskerkhof" in Leyden from Jan van Goyen.

POSSEMIERS, Adriaan: Born in Middelburg. Worked at Antwerp 1675-1685.

POST, P.: Born Haarlem May the first 1608. Died 1669. Painter and architect. He worked for Prince Maurits van Nassau-Siegen. He was in the Guild of Haarlem 1633. He went with the Prince to Brasil in 1637. He was the architect of the townhall in Maastricht, de Waag in Leyden and so on. He had a son Pieter, born in 1639 and a daughter.

QUELLINUS, Erasmus: His brother Hubertus lived in Antwerp and Amsterdam 1619-1688.

QUENADT, or QUERRADT, Peter: Cologne. (same as Peter OVERRADT ?)

QUINEAU, Gideon: Born in Chateaudun (France) about 1675. Between 1708 and 1733 in Amsterdam. "In de Raamsteeg; "In de Kalverstraat".
